Wordless{ish} Wednesday: Pennsylvania Favorites

I have been bad with my camera this week. I haven't been taking very many pictures. There has been lots of rain which equals bad light. So instead of showing you something brand spanking new, I am going to show you some of my favorite photos that I never posted from my trip a few weeks ago. I'm usually good at keeping my words at a minimum on Wednesdays but these require descriptions because they're not really a set.

I need to start more pictures of other people besides my daughter- sorry for the Aubs overload.

I love the tiny little rainbow on her face. It's from a glass star in the window.

Expert stair climber... not so good at going down though

Playing with Daddy- she was so happy when he got there

Aubs with one of our oldest and dearest friends Greg- it's great when your friends love your kid

A Walk in the Park

Living in the suburbs has been a little rough on me. I am used to wide open spaces and that is something that I definitely do not have right now. I share a fence with two neighbors- one of which we have never even met. Most of my backyard is my pool/patio area. I'm definitely not complaining about the pool but it does take up a lot of space when I have limited space to begin with. There isn't a lot of room for my toddler to explore and strength her legs.

There is a silver lining. Because we live in the suburbs, we have some amazing parks within a short driving distance. Parks that I had only dreamed of when I was a child. Parks with splash pads, parks on beaches, parks with equipment that looks like it's out of
a Dr. Seuss book.

This weekend we had plans to go boating. There was only a 10% chance of rain which is pretty rare in August in Florida. Unfortunately Irene had other plans and while we got her rain on Sunday, we got her wind on Saturday. There was a small watercraft warning on the news so we knew boating was going to be a no go. We decided to just lay low and head out to one of our fabulous parks for a little bit.

Things I'm Loving

*In My World*

Aubs has some mad jelly sorting skills
She discovered her skills at Perkins in Pennsylvania
We go out to a local diner for Breakfast almost every weekend
So she can put those skills to good use
It's a great way to keep her entertained
I'm thinking I should stash one in my bag for all restaurant outings

The playroom Joe made for Aubs while we were away

We only use our dining room about 5 times a year
I've been begging Joe to let me turn it into a playroom
We have sooo many toys that it's out of control
It's a result of 3 sets of grandparents and
older cousins who love to give Aubrey their old toys
Joe surprised me and did it while we were away

This picture of Aubs
I'm kind of obsessed with it
She's eating a marshmallow covered in toasted coconut
If you haven't tried these~ you should
Especially in a s'more

My Keurig
I got it for Joe for father's day but it was kind of for me too
My current keurig obsession is chai tea lattes
I am also super excited that Dunkin Dounuts just came out with K-cups
{sorry about the bad lighting in this photo}

*Everywhere Else*

Kristen Stewart's Interview & Pictorial in W Magazine
{I still have a subscription from when I was really into high fashion}
I usually can't stand her
She comes off awkward and ungrateful
This interview shined a new light on her
I'm impressed
Plus the pictures are GORGEOUS

An Easy Way to Clean Your Microwave
I found this on Pinterest
I will never go back to cleaning my microwave any other way
Try it I swear it works like a charm
Crafty Little Gnome

Hurrican Irene Isn't Hitting Florida
It's original track was right at us
Although with the way Mother Nature has been dishing out extreme weather
I'm sure we'll get hit with a doozy sometime this season
With that said I'm wishing a safe weekend for everyone who is getting hit

I hope everyone has a safe and lovely weekend

Doodle Style: Dress Edition

Oh how do I love dresses on little girls. I couldn't wait for Aubrey to walk so that I could put dresses on her. Unfortunately she was totally content with crawling so she didn't walk fully on her own until she was 14 months old. I've been making up for lost time and throwing dresses on her a couple of times a week. They are nice and cool for the summer heat.

Being back in the Poconos a few weeks ago made me miss spending a lot of time outdoors. Growing up I pretty much lived outside. I was constantly playing in the woods and my family was always hiking or fishing. In the winter we even spend a lot of weekends outside snowmobiling and sledding. It became a huge part of who I was. Then when I was old enough to work I got a job at a four season resort as part of their activities staff. I led hikes and bike rides in the summer to waterfalls and mountain tops. In the winter I led snow shoe outings and worked at the ski slope.

My favorite flowers from home~ Black Eyed Susans

Morning Dew

The landscape in Florida is much different. There are no mountains or waterfalls and certainly no snow. Florida does have it's charms though. It has gorgeous beaches and lakes. I still have a hard time getting over the fact that I can drive 10 minutes and hit the Gulf of Mexico. Florida also has amazing flowers and trees. There are hundreds of types of palm trees, before I moved here I thought there was just one. Oh and the flowers! Some of them look like they belong on another planet.

Sea Pine in my backyard

Also in my backyard- the odd but beautiful flower that only blooms every other year.

I have yet to really embrace the Florida outdoors. I'm too hung up on it not being what I grew up with and that needs to change. Being outside makes me happy, I'm always in a better mood when I've spent a few hours in nature. I need to keep the two place separate in my mind. I need to go to the beach more. I need to go to state parks and botanical gardens more. Now if October would just get here already so that I can spend more than a couple of hours outside.
