Weekend Recap

Our weekend was pretty uneventful, quite different from the last two weekends. It's nice to slow down a bit but sometime I hate just hanging around. I used to like it before the baby because I could do whatever I wanted. Now that we have the little one I would rather be out doing something than stuck in the house all day.

The most exciting part of our weekend was that we bought a new couch! Our old one is so stained up that it is embarrassing. Microfiber and toddlers don't mix. We got a leather one so we can just wipe it down when it gets attacked by sticky little fingers. It gets delivered on Thursday and we are beyond pumped. Oh the joys of being an adult!

On Saturday night we decided to take Aubs to an event at our local park called Spooktacular. Basically it was a mini carnival with tons of inflatables, food venders, an entertainment stage and trick or treating. We mainly hung out in the field, listened to music and played on the playground. Aubs is becoming a pro at going down slides, even the really big ones. I didn't put her in her costume because it was a little chilly but I stuck some Minnie Mouse ears on her that Aunt Tamie brought back from Disney World.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween. We are going to my Mother In-laws tonight for some dinner and trick or treating. I made Joe and I sea themed costumes to match Aub's fishy costume. My costume turned out pret-ty amazing, if I do say so myself. I will definitely be posting pictures tomorrow or Wednesday.

Friday Flashback: Halloween

Last Halloween Aubs was a little strawberry
The costume was huge but it didn't matter because she wasn't even crawling
I actually put it on her this morning for a Halloween play date at the park
It just barely fit but it worked out better than her elaborate fish costume

I actually wanted to post some vintage Halloween photos from when I was little
but unfortunately they are all in Pennsylvania
These will just have to do
They are super cute though

This year will be the first year she is able to go trick or treating
I probably wouldn't even take her if it weren't for her older cousins
Those boys will definitely show her the ropes
We will probably go to a few houses and then head back to Nanny's to help give out candy
It will give her a little taste of Halloween's to come

Doodle Style: More Pumpkins

Are you sick of seeing pumpkins in nearly all of my posts?
Too bad, here are some more
It's 84 degrees here today so I need to fill my Fall void with pumpkins

I took doodle to the pumpkin patch down the road from us the other day to get pumpkins for painting
I bought way too many pumpkins but the money goes to the church youth group, so whatever.

She wouldn't take those Mardi Gras beads off, she's totally becoming a full on toddler.

Santa Rosa Steak

This is my Nana's recipe and I absolutely love it
She has been making it for as long as I can remember
It was a staple during summer bbqs at her house
The marinade is super easy to make and tastes amazing

Photobucket

Ingredients

1 can tomato sauce
1 cup beef stock
1/4 cup oil
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp minced dried onion
1 tsp each- salt, sugar, basil & paprika
Steak of your choice
{My Nana always used london broil but I used sirloin}

Combine all ingredients until well blended. Put steak in a gallon ziploc bag or a baking dish and cover with marinade.
Refrigerate overnight and grill.
See I told you it was easy.

Pumpkin Painting Fail

My friend Kristen and I thought it would be fun to have our kids paint pumpkins
We thought wrong
They are 15 and 19 months
Clearly not the age interested in painting pumpkins
Aubs did a little bit of drive by action
But Kingston was more entranced by lizards
Oh well, we will try again next year

Photobucket
"Hmmm this might be fun"

Photobucket
"Nope. nevermind. I'm with Kingston. A playset that is too small for us is way better than pumpkins"

Kristen and I tried our hardest but they still weren't having it
This is just Aubs on another on of her drive bys

I Heart Faces: Let Them Be Little

Photobucket

This is the core of Aubs as a baby
She's doing "so big"
Her favorite request since the time she was 10 months old
I'm pretty sure this is going to be a thing of the past soon
That will be a sad day

Night Out

Joe's business partner's wife came into town this weekend
without the kids so we decided to go out
We went to our usual beach hang out and the bar next door

They are from Missouri so we kept a close eye on the baseball game
Thankfully the Cardinals killed it that night

We had a pretty good time too.
We ate a delicious dinner with a view of a gorgeous sunset.
We danced the night away, listened to music and enjoyed good company.

A Gymboree Halloween

On Friday night we went to Gymboree's annual Halloween party
We weren't able to go last year because the hubs brought me to see Chelsea Handler that night
I'm glad we were able to go this year because I think Aubs had a blast
It was also cute to see all of the other kids dressed up

I'm not gonna lie, it was a bit crazy
The party was filled to capacity and
every kid there had both parents with them which is never the case in regular class
The hubs even came which was nice because he hadn't been there before

Aubs dressed up as a little fishy
She kept her hood on the whole time
We were impressed
The only hang up was her glitter sleeves when she was climbing
