Aubrey's Birth Story- Better Late Than Never

Photobucket

It’s taken me a long time to sit down and actually write this because it happened almost 2 ½ years ago. Giving birth is a pretty surreal experience on it’s own and then trying to recall all the details so much later is tough. It’s one of those things that I think mothers tend to romanticize after the fact because they have so much love for their child that the joy of the event stays on as clear vision while the not so great stuff is forgotten over time. This is why I am making my husband help me fill in the blanks because although I remember some of the bad I mainly focus on the good, which is great but doesn’t make for a very honest birth story.

I was scheduled to be induced on March 7th, which was a Sunday at 6 o’clock. My due date was March 9th and the reason that my midwives wanted to induce me was because I had Gestation Diabetes. The complications that go along with GD are having large babies and possible placenta deterioration towards the end of the pregnancy. I decided to go along with the induction because I was pretty over being pregnant at that point and the risk of placenta deterioration scared me. Don’t get me wrong, having to push out a huge baby scared me too but a huge baby was a lot better than one that wasn’t getting proper nutrients.

We got to the hospital, checked in and were led to our delivery room. They had me change into a hospital gown and then had a nurse come to put an IV in my arm. Having the IV put in was one of the worse experiences of the whole process. It took three nurses and a ton of digging around in my arm for them to finally give up and call the “IV team”. Apparently I have deep veins that roll so it’s tricky for an IV to be administered. I have never been in the hospital before so I had no idea that this would be such an issue. Thankfully the “IV Team” nurse was able to get it in almost immediately. Unfortunately the damage was already done and I had bruises all up and down my arm and soreness for about a week afterwards. Next my midwife came and administered Cervidil to induce labor. I was also hooked up to monitors at this point to track any contractions and the baby’s heart rate. I was also put on a monitor to track my blood pressure because it got unusually high when I got to the hospital. Nothing life threatening but my blood pressure is always prefect so they wanted to keep an eye on it’s new elevated level. What can I say, I was just a bit nervous about having my first baby.

The hubs and I then settled in for the night and ordered some dinner. I was on a restricted diet because of my GD, I had salmon and broccoli and he had meatloaf and mash potatoes. It was our last supper as a carefree young married couple. After we ate we decided to watch the Oscars because there wasn’t much else on and Joe wasn’t about to argue with me on what to watch. I wasn’t too concerned about sleeping because I figured that the induction would be a long process because of what I had read online. Plus I had no signs of labor before we arrived at the hospital so I thought that she was going to be a tough one to coax out, I was wrong.

Around midnight I started to get pretty regular contractions. Nothing crazy just your run of the mill early labor contractions that were happening about every 10-15 minutes. I may have not even know these were regular contractions but I was hooked up to a machine that told me they were. At about 3 am I felt what I thought was my water breaking. It felt like just a small gush of water so I rang the nurse and let her know. She said that there wasn’t enough fluid to test and to buzz her back if I had felt anymore. As soon as my next contraction hit it felt like a water balloon has burst in my stomach. It was the strangest feeling and that’s the only way I can really describe it. There was no denying now that my water had broken. I buzzed the nurse and then had Joe help me to the bathroom so I could clean up a little. I dripped the whole way- it was pretty funny actually. Joe had to grab a towel and wipe up after me so that the nurse didn’t slip in Aubs amniotic fluid when she came in to check on me.

Since my contractions still weren’t insanely painful and it seemed to be go time, we tried to lay down and get some rest. I’m pretty sure I didn’t get any actual sleep and I can’t remember if my the hubs did or not. Around 6 am is when things started to hurt, like really hurt. The timeline from here on is kind of blurry but I know it was light out by the time I asked for an epidural so I must have endured the pain until about 7:30/8:00 because it was March and it gets light later during that time of year. They told me that the epidural guy was currently tied up but they could give me pain meds through my IV or I could take a hot shower to help alleviate the pain. I opted for the shower because I figured if I was going to take any pain meds at all, I might as well wait for the good stuff.

I was in the shower for at about 45 minutes, although it didn’t feel like that long. Having the hot water on my back during my contractions was such a relief. If I ever decide to attempt natural child birth, the only way I would do it is in a tub because of the warm water. I should also mention that before I went to the hospital the night before, I had spent about an hour blowing out and flat ironing my hair. I had this vision of myself in pictures right after the birth looking fabulous. Obviously my vision drastically changed once I went into heavy labor. Anyway the only thing that got me to leave the shower was the promise that the anesthesiologist was on his way.

I got myself dried off and re-gowned and headed back to my bed. That 5 or 10 minutes waiting for him was complete hell. I think it was because I had gotten so much relief from the shower that my body went into a little bit of shock when I started feeling so much pain again. Not only that but my contractions were pretty much on top of each at that point so by the time I would catch my breath from one another one would start up. When the anesthesiologist arrived I was told to sit up on the side of the bed and try not to move. Joey stood in front of me and I was able to lean against him. The shock that my body was going through had me shaking like a leaf. Thankfully they were able to get the epidural in between my contractions when I was shaking a little bit less. Oh how much did I love that epidural and the epidural guy (whose name happened to be Kelly), so much that words can not even describe. I still felt my contractions and was still in some pain but nothing even comparable to what I had been in. The also let me have a cherry ice pop at this point and it was the best ice pop that I had ever eaten.

Within 45 minutes I started to feel a ton of pain in my right hip. The pain grew more intense with every contraction. I let the nurses know and they believed that my epidural was positioned where it was only going to the left side of my body. They had me lay on my right side to try and have gravity do it’s thing but that didn’t work. Plus it was hard to lay on my right hip because it hurt so bad. They decided to try to “top off” the meds in my epidural and hope that the increase of medicine would alleviate my pain. Unfortunately that didn’t work either, it just made the left side of my body completely numb to the point where I couldn’t feel my left leg at all. When they kept having me turn side to side my husband had to help me because I couldn’t feel anything. An anesthesiologist who had just started her shift came into check on me after she heard about my situation. She saw me gripping the bed so hard that my knuckles turned white every time I had a contraction and asked the nurse if they had recently checked to see if I was fully dilated. The nurse checked and sure enough I was at 10 centimeters.

The nurse then briefed me on how the whole push thing was going to work and then said that we were going to do a few practice pushes until my midwife got there. My husband held my one leg and the nurse held the other and we waited for my next contraction so that I could push. Within the first few pushes little Aubs was already willing to come out. The nurse told me to stop pushing so that she could find my midwife. After about 10 minutes of feeling like the baby was going to fall out of my body, my midwife arrived and we were able to get the show on the road. After 28 minutes of pushing Aubrey Hope was born at 12:19 pm on March 8, 2010.

They immediately put her up onto my belly and told me not to pull her because she was still attached to the cord. I couldn’t believe how little and perfect she looked and that she was the one in my belly that whole time. As soon as the cord was cut and they wiped her off a bit, I pull her up onto my chest and laid with her skin to skin for about 10 minutes. She didn’t cry but she was very alert. I then nursed her and she latched on immediately. During this time they did whatever was necessary down below, I had a small tear that required a couple of stitches. I suppose at some point during this time I delivered the placenta too but I honestly have no recollection of it. I was so focused on Aubs that I have no idea what was going on with my lower half.

After I was all cleaned up and Aubrey had nursed for awhile I literally had to pull her off my boob so that they could weigh her and check all the that other stuff. She weighed 7 lbs 9.5 ounces and scored a 9 on her apgar. I remember just staring at her when she was laying on the warming table and they were checking everything. I thought she looked so much like my side of the family. Strangely enough, I though I saw my granddad in her most at the time. Also I should mention that Joe held her for the first time after I was done nursing and before they started weighing her and checking her out.

All in all it was a pretty easy birth beside the few hiccups. During all the craziness I told my husband I never wanted to do that again but the mind is pretty good at helping you forget like I had said before. I am just so thankful that she was healthy and that I was able to hold her for so long right after she was born. Those first moments of her life are something that I will cherish forever.

I haven't done a currently post in awhile so I figured I'd link up with Harvesting Kale and This Amazing Day to let you know what's currently going on with me.

Enjoying My last few weeks as a mama of one. I can't believe Aubs isn't going to be my only little one very soon. I am just trying to soak up our last days alone together. It's rough though because I am huge and tired but I just keep holding on to the thought that these moments will soon be gone.

Learning I love the horizontal striped walls that have been all over the internet and decided that I would give it a shot in the nursery. What I didn't take into consideration is that most of those striped walls out there are in bathrooms, not along 12 foot walls. Yeah so I'm learning that painting really long horizontal stripes is difficult and frustrating. I am also learning that I do DIY projects best on my own, I wanted to kill my husband last night when we were taping everything off.

Inspired New baby girl has inspired us to do a bunch of home improvements. I thinks it because we know that we soon won't have the time to get them done. It's also made me become more creative and crafty again. I've been doing lots of little crafts for the girl's rooms and playroom and I also have a lot more that I plan on getting done before the little one arrives.

Becoming Huge! Obviously... we can tack on sluggish and overly tired. Let't throw in overwhelmed for good measure.

Indulging Iced Chai Tea Lattes with nonfat milk from Starbucks are my current weakness. They are also my go to stress reliever these days. Also I have been eating ice cream more than I probably should. My current favorite is Bluebell's Century Sundae. It's vanilla ice cream with chocolate, caramel, whipped topping and maraschino cherries- so ridiculous.

I chopped about 8 inches off my hair and dyed it blonder. You like? I promise to do a proper post on it with non insta pictures.

Today I am linking up with Harvesting Kale & This Amazing Day for their new currently link-up.

This is what I have been up to:

Cooking: Healthier. I was doing really good for awhile about eating healthy and then I fell off the past couple of weeks. I am trying to cook with more veggies, which is kind of hard because my husband isn't a fan of fresh tasting food. Isn't that the weirdest thing you've ever heard? Last night I made The Pioneer Woman's summer stir fry from her cookbook- it was delicious.

Wearing: Like Randalin, I have been wearing a ton of skirts and dresses. I'm starting to get very very pregnant and the jersey maxi and knee length skirts from Old Navy are sooooo comfortable. I am usually one of those girls who throws on sweats and takes off her bra as soon as she walks in the door but I leave these skirt on all night- bra is still off though.

Wanting: A faster metabolism so that I can eat ice cream on a daily basis. Yeah I know, not going to happen.

Listening to: Well this morning when the little one was at preschool I was listening to "Skinny Love" by Birdy and "Shake it Out" by Florence + The Machine on Spotify on repeat.

Watching: The Hubs and I are currently a little obsessed with Game of Thrones. We finished the 1st season and are about half way through the second. Could you imagine living during times like that? So brutal but I guess you know what you know. It's not like they could turn on the television or open the computer and see how the better half lives.

What have you guys been up to lately?

Harvesting Kale

I know this is probably annoying but I am so pumped to be in the top 25. Could you please help us stay there?

Joining the Party

Photobucket

Hi! I'm Mallory and I thought I would join in on this year's Ultimate Blog Party hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom. I'll start out with telling you a bit about myself for anyone who is new here. I am a 28 year old stay at home mom to a incredibly spirited 2 year old daughter and I am expecting another little girl in the beginning of September. I am also wife to my handsome husband Joe. We have been together for over 10 years and married for almost 4. We live on Florida's gulf coast so you will often see that our adventures happen outside because it is warm 95% of the year. This little blog of mine documents our lives and occasionally I will throw in a recipe or a DIY.

Photobucket
This is me. I gave you the basics above but I will let you in on a little more now. I grew up in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and moved to Florida when I was 19 to go to college but truthfully it was more to follow my boyfriend now husband rather than just to attend college. I am still getting use to the fact that I live 15 minutes from the beach after living here for almost 10 years.
I love to read and I may have a slight addiction to television which I am trying to break. My husband and I love the shows on premium channels like Californication, Boardwalk Empire, Shameless and True Blood(this one is more me than him though). I also really enjoy cooking and crafting. Although I have a hard time finding any time to craft these days.

Photobucket
This is my husband Joe. He works incredibly hard so that I can stay at home with our kids, well kid right now but soon to be kids. In his down time he plays golf and Modern Warfare.

Photobucket
This is Aubrey- the star of the show. She also goes but Aubs and Doodle. Usually you will see her rocking her purple glasses but she has been pulling them off a lot lately. She started wearing glasses at 16 months because she is extremely farsighted in her right eye. It is a condition that should correct itself by late childhood. Aubs is a very active 2 year old who has really been giving me a run for my money these days. My perfect little baby has turned into quite a handful as a toddler. You will definitely see me seeking out advice from time to time to figure out what to do with this maniac. We still love her though, she makes up for her outbursts with a lot of sweetness and her undeniable cuteness.

That's it for now... I am looking forward to meeting some new Mamas out there and this weekend I plan on hopping around as much as possible. Please leave a comment and let me know you were here so that I can pay you a visit too.

In My Bag

Every week Lena from Mom 2 Memphis and Ruby does a Tuesday 10 link up. This week it is a list of 10 things that you have in your purse. I don't really have a purse, it's more like a half diaper bag half purse. I have Aubs with me like 98% of the time. There are maybe 2 or 3 times a month when I am out and she is not with me and then it's usually to the doctors or to run to the grocery store for something on the weekend. Right now I am using a coach bag that I used as a book bag in college because my usual bag had a weird black slim growing on the bottom from a sippy cup leak. I didn't dump out my bag to take a picture because that would mean that I would have to clean all of the yogurt melts off the bottom and I'm not really in the mood.

10 Things in my Bag

1. Wallet- must have because it houses my debit card

2. Keys- can't go anywhere without those bad boys

3. Diapers- I don't think I have to explain myself on this one

4. Wipes- not just for butts, also for the many other messes of motherhood

5. Bottle of water for Mama- I live in Florida so staying hydrated is crucial, especially now that I'm harboring a fetus

6. Water in a sippy for Aubs- girl needs to drink. I will also bring a juice box if we are going somewhere that I know other kids will have juice to prevent a meltdown.

7. Snacks- typically pretzels or white cheddar puffs, yogurt melts if we are going out to eat, if we are going out for awhile I will also bring a string cheese and a banana.

8. Phone- I'm kind of bad with my phone but I'm getting better. I still forget it from time to time though but I have OnStar in my truck in case of a serious emergency.

9. Hand Sanitizer- I probably don't use this one as much as I should but it comes in handy when I have to change a poop diaper in the back of the car.

10. Crumbled Up Receipts- I'm the worse with receipts, the ones that I always need later seem to disappear and the ones that I could care less about linger around for months.

Head on over to Mom 2 Memphis and Ruby and check out everyone else's list or better yet, make your own and link up.

Guess What?

Photobucket

So I guess the secret's out!
I'm jumping on the bandwagon of the other million bloggers that are pregnant.
I am currently 13 weeks along and due on September 6th, the day before my 29th birthday.

This is my excuse for being a less than impressive blogger for the past couple of months.
I have been dealing with extreme tiredness and nausea.
It has been better for the last week or so but I have still been getting heartburn on the regular.

Wow, it feels good to get that out.
I have known since December 30th
I just wanted to wait until I passed the 12 week mark to let you all in on it.

Linking up with my usual lovely wordless Wednesday ladies The Paper Mama, Baby Baby Lemon, and then, she {snapped}, Jenni from the Blog and Three in Three

Dear 16 Year Old Mal:

Every week Lena from Mom 2 Memphis and Ruby does a Tuesday 10 link up. This week it is a list of 10 things you would say to your 16 year old self. I thought this would be pretty fun since I was kind of an idiot at 16. I'm hoping I don't pass it on to Aubs but I think the odds are against me.

Photobucket
This is me at 16. Do you like my red eye and Old Navy performance fleece?

10 Things I Would Say My 16 Year Old Self:

1. Break up with your boyfriend, he is a jackass and will cheat on you with your cousin in a few months.

2. Save some of your money! You have a great job for a 16 year old and you will appreciate that extra cash when you get to college.

3. Spend more time on your school work. You might as well start this wonderful habit now because it will pay off in the future.

4. Don't take life so seriously- you're only 16. You'll have your whole adulthood to do that.

5. Your brown eyes are beautiful- stop putting those stupid colored contacts in.

6. Get your driver's license. You will regret it when a student driver car is picking you up at your dorm room(true story).

7. Spend more time with your girlfriends instead of your boyfriend.

8. Be nicer to your peers.

9. Eat healthier. Diet coke for breakfast and nachos and Snapple for lunch isn't a balanced diet.

10. Life isn't always easy but as you get older you learn to deal with it better.

Head on over to Mom 2 Memphis and Ruby and check out everyone else's list or better yet, make your own and link up.

*Don't forget to stop back by tomorrow- I have a pretty amazing post planned.

I'm kind of a big deal....

...in the world of educational birth videos, that is.

When I was in the hospital after Aubs was born I was in a blissful state. I had just delivered a beautiful healthy baby girl who nursed like a champion (one of my biggest fears was that I would have trouble nursing). I was able to eat carbs again which I wasn’t able to do while pregnant because I had GD. Everything was just perfect. The stars were aligned and I was happy- maybe a little too openly blissful and cheery. My sunny demeanor is probably what made the nurses decide that I was the best candidate to send the director to. Yes you read that right, director, as in film director.

Little did I know in my baby fog that there was a film crew on the maternity ward of my hospital filming an educational birth video to be distributed to doctors and midwives offices throughout Florida and God only knows where else. Of course they hadn’t filmed us (yet) because you have to fill out all sorts of consent forms and what not. I became aware of the situation when my nurse came in and asked me if it would be alright if the director came in to talk to me.

In walked a very pleasant middle aged woman with clipboard. My husband was actually not there at the time because he had gone home to shower and get some things that I had needed. I believe that I was nursing when she came in and she sat down right next to my bed. She commented that I seemed like such a natural and so content. I took this as a huge compliment. I thought, “I’m awesome and this woman can clearly see that too.”

Then she broke it down for me. She was with a production crew who was filming an educational video for doctors’ offices to show to expecting mothers. She also told me that I was one of the only new mothers who were breastfeeding on the floor. In retrospect I’m pretty sure she was lying about that one but then again my husband said that there were always a lot of babies in the nursery and it’s hard to have a baby in the nursery when you’re breastfeeding. Who cares anyway, that’s not the point of this story. Basically all the flattery had me saying yes even before my husband got back and I was able to run it by him.

Within an hour or so Joe got back to the hospital and I let him in on what I had just agreed to. He didn’t seem to mind. We were stuck in the hospital anyway and this would at least entertain us for a little while. Pretty soon we were met by a team of three people- the woman from before, a camera guy and the producer. We were given a bunch of paperwork and waivers to fill out and then briefed by the director on what we would be doing. I had no lines but my husband and the nurse that was helping out did. My role was basically to look adoringly at my baby (easy) and breastfeed (only top boob, no nipples exposed. I made sure of that).

The whole ordeal probably lasted about an hour. It was a little strange having a camera crew and studio lighting in our hospital room the day after I gave birth but the whole experience of giving birth for the first time is a little strange all on its own. The actual scene we shot was a little more difficult than we assumed too. It’s hard to act natural and not look at the camera in such an unnatural situation. We would totally suck at being reality t.v. stars. With all that said and done, it actually only seemed like a small event within the huge event of having out first child.

We didn’t really think of it much after it had happened and had basically forgotten about it. The producer was supposed to contact us once the film was complete so we could get a copy. This was one of the reasons why we did it in the first place. We thought it would be cool to have a professional video of Aubs first day on earth. They never ended up contacting us so we just figured that our scene had been cut out, no harm no foul. I was actually pretty relieved. I mean what I was thinking doing something like that. I was bloated from Pitocin and looked like complete crap. I also was a little embarrassed about breastfeeding on camera although it was very discreet. I am extremely pro-breastfeeding but the thought of a million doctors’ offices having a video of me doing it gave me the creeps. Whatever, I wouldn’t have to worry about all that now because obviously it never got put into the movie.

Then about a month ago my husband got a phone call from his brother, Craig. Craig was out to lunch and he had gotten a phone call from one of his and my husband’s investors. The investor asked Craig if by any chance Joe and his wife had been filmed for a birthing video. He and his wife were expecting their second child and had just watch an educational birth video and thought they recognized Joe. Craig said he wasn’t sure but he called Joe to confirm. That’s when it hit us. They did use our scene and now it was available for the whole world to see. Worst of all a man who invests in my husband’s business saw it, me at my absolute worst and he isn’t the only one, just the only one that we know about. Awesome... just awesome.

Basically the moral of this story is, never agree to anything right after you have a baby. You are sappy and take compliments way too seriously and if you’re as unlucky as me you will end up forever on film to educate couples on their impending birth experience. I find is kind of comical now that the sting has worn off, that is if I try not to think of it at all- or ever.

Forty Eight

I've been nursing a pretty nasty cold since Friday night. I think Aubs got it at the gym daycare and passed it to me. Anyway I've been napping while she naps lately and going to bed early so I haven't had a lot of spare time to blog. Blah Blah Blah

After about 40 minutes of rocking and back rubbing my daughter is finally asleep. How long will she be asleep is really the question. As you have probably noticed, this ol' blog of mine has been a little bland lately. I have just been so tired and it seems like my to do list is never ending. There is an underlying explanation for some of these things which I promise to share with you some time soon.

In the meantime I am going to try to manage my time better so that I can publish some more quality posts. I love blogging and the community that comes with it so it really gets me down when I fall behind on it. I have a funny story that I am working on for you but my scatter brain is having a hard time getting out what I want to say in the way that I would like to say it. I think I need to find a nice quiet and/or peaceful place to write where my mind isn't being pulled in 5 million directions. It's a sunny 67 degrees out right now, maybe I should start taking my laptop outside during nap time and writing- that would probably help and maybe be inspiring as a bonus.

I also need to start taking more pictures. My in-laws actually got me a backdrop/lighting set-up for Christmas that I haven't used yet. Oh and that tripod that I showed you, still in the box. I know I know- kind of ridiculous. Even with out the fancy set-ups, I just need to start snapping away in general like I used to. At least I can admit that I have a problem, right?

This is my glamorous look lately. Glasses, no make-up and my hair falling out of a braid.

If anyone would like to share some tips with me how to keep on keeping on in the hustle and bustle of Mommyhood I would love to hear them.

A New Year

I love celebrating the new year
I love the feeling of a fresh start
It feels like the Monday of all Mondays
Even though it's technically not a Monday this year but you know I mean

Photobucket

Here are a few things that I plan on kicking ass at in 2012:
{If you notice me slipping, feel free to call me out on it}

-Eat clean and make cook clean delicious meals for my family. I have been falling off with healthy cooking and eating. Not only does it make me and my husband gain weight but it also makes us feel sluggish. I just wish my husband enjoyed fresh vegetables as much as I do. Plus Aubs needs a good example. She adores salad though so that's my go to with her.

-Exercise 5 days a week- Aubs loves the kids club at the gym so it's a win win. I am also going off red bull so I could use the extra energy boost that cardio gives me.

-Learn how to use my camera more efficiently. I need to do the work, read the information and practice. I would love to have more beautiful and clear photos of my family.

-Read more. I already read a lot but I need to read more non fiction.

-Write more. I used to absolutely love to write and now I don't take the time to sit down and put a real quality piece together. I miss being super proud of something I have written.

-This one is kind of lame but I want to keep up with my hair. When I don't get it done every couple of months I don't feel as good about myself as I usually would.

-Grow a vegetable garden. I live in Florida, I can almost garden the whole year so there is no excuse.

Are there any resolutions that you are dead set on following through on?

Friday Flashback: New Year's Eve 2008/2009

I wanted to post some old New Year's Eve pictures and these were the ones I was able to find. I was actually looking for the ones from 2006 because that was my best New Years Eve to date but I could only find them on Shutterfly and the resolution sucked. That year we were in New York City and went to a party at Roseland Ballroom until 4 in the morning. 2008 was fun too though. We got a group of friend's together and rented a stretch hummer and went to The Hardrock Casino. My New Years since then haven't been too exciting. This year we will probably hang with a few friends and play games and have some drinks.

Do you have any big plans for New Year's Eve?

Chelsea's Questions

1. What's one embarrassing habit you have?I tend to leave my clothes in a pile exactly where I took them off which drives my husband crazy
2. Do you have a lucky number? If so, what is it? I used to always say it was 19 but for no real reason except for liking it but now it is truly my lucky number because I gave birth in room 1519 at 12:19 pm. It was there all along, I just didn't know why.
3. New years resolutions: lame or are you planning on making some?I like resolutions. I definitely plan on making a few.

New Traditions

Photobucket

Photobucket

As a lot of you know I didn't grow up in Florida
I grew up in the Pocono Mountains in North Eastern Pennsylvania
I moved to Florida when I was 19 because I transferred from Philadelphia University to the University of Tampa

With that said, my holidays growing up were very different from mine now
Obviously there is no snow, so a white Christmas is out of the question
Along with all other things that require snow such as sledding, snow forts, skiing, snowball fights and the list goes on.

Most of my life and all of my young life I had identified the holidays with cold blustering wind and snow
Now those ideas need to change, especially now that I have a daughter that needs to have her own Christmas traditions and ideas
Florida is a clean slate
There is no family past here, just the life that we are creating now

Some of the traditions that I plan on carrying on are pajamas on Christmas eve, baking way too many Christmas cookies and driving around to look at everyone's lights
Some of the new ones that we have started are decorating the day weekend after Thanksgiving, big Christmas breakfasts and visiting the local parks over the top Christmas light displays

Do you have any new traditions that you have started with your family?
or
Do you stick with ones that you hold dear from the past?

Vegas: Bellagio & Paris

So, I had originally planned on only doing 2 more Vegas posts but...
I am having a hard time cutting back on photos so I am going to do as many as it takes for me to get my favorite photos posted
I will also be doing my regular posts- I will just throw in the Vegas pictures here and there for the next week

These photos are from The Bellagio and the Paris Hotel & Casino

Joe loves the Bellagio- I think it's because it was the first place he ever stayed in Vegas
We were fortunate that our hotel was right across the street and we were actually able to see & hear the fountains from our hotel room at all hours

I really loved the Paris Hotel
I was under the impression that it was old and cheesy but I was totally wrong
The inside was gorgeous!!!

Bag- American Rag//Sweater- Target//Tank- H&M//Leggings- Target//Socks- H&M//Boots- UGG

It was so nice to be able to wear boots and sweaters all day long when we were in Las Vegas.
Typically in Florida you can until about noon and then you have to peel off some layers.

I will have more photos from Vegas up tomorrow and a holiday edition on Wednesday.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
