I've been trying to eat a lot of healthy fresh foods lately. Not that you shouldn't eat healthy all the time but I think it is especially important when you are pregnant. My main drive for doing this is my energy levels. They have been super low lately and since I can't just pop open a redbull, I need to find other sources to give myself more energy. I find that when I eat fresh food and drink tons of water my energy always goes up. So, I thought I'd share my favorite lunch and breakfast meal with you in case you need a little healthy inspiration.
Green Smoothie

2 big handfuls of baby spinach
1 frozen banana (I wait until mine start to go brown and then peel them and freeze them in sandwich bags)
1-2 tbsp of Better N' Peanut Butter
1/2 tbsp chia seeds
1 cup of almond milk
If you don't have a frozen banana you can use a fresh one but throw a couple of ice cubes in with the mix. Also I think it's important to put your spinach on the bottom so the rest of the ingredients weigh the spinach down so that it chops finer.
Veggie Lunch Plate

This lunch is easy fresh and delicious. Just get a bunch of your favorite raw veggies and sprinkle with salt, pepper & balsamic vinegar. On this plate I have tomatoes, baby spinach and bell peppers. Then get a few pieces of sesame Melba Toast and spread on some hummus and top with sliced cucumbers. Sooo good- even Aubs approves but then again she will eat pretty much anything that I put balsamic vinegar on.
Make sure you stop by tomorrow for my big gender reveal! The baby was a little shy at first but then started to show off towards the end so we got a pretty clear shot of his/her goods.

So what will "it" be? Well, we have a 50/50 shot of it being a boy or a girl, obviously. Tomorrow we are going for a gender scan because I am super impatient and I figure why not take advantage of modern technology. This time around I really have no idea what is growing in my belly. When I was pregnant with Aubs I would have bet anyone big money that I was having a girl. I was so incredibly sure of it and so was Joe. I even took one of those at home gender tests and it said it was a boy but I quickly ruled that out as being wrong. As all of you know I was right on that one, it was a girl.
This time around, I am not so sure. I don't have a gut feeling either way. Some days I think boy and then other days I think girl. Last night I actually had a dream that I was telling Aubs to be nice to her sister, so maybe that's a sign?!? I just don't know. Joe is again convinced that it is another girl. Since I am so anxious about finding out what the little one is I have looked into a few of the old wive's tales and myths. Here's the rundown:
Chinese Gender Chart: Girl
Heart Rate: Girl
Baking Soda Test: Girl
Craving Fruit: Yes, Girl
Time of Conception: Boy
So almost all signs point to girl, but who knows. A girl would be nice because we already have so many adorable clothes to dress her in. It would also be cool for Aubs to have a sister, I don't have a sister and have always wanted one. A boy would be great too because well- we don't have one of those already. Joe is also a sports nut so it would be nice for him to have a little guy to share that with. Either way we will be happy as long as the baby is healthy. Hopefully the little one isn't modest and cooperates when we try to check out it's goods.

As you know, we are expecting a new little ankle biter in the house in the beginning of September. Aubrey will be exactly two and a half when the new little one arrives, assuming I go full term which I'm pretty sure I will and then some. Ideally I would like Aubs potty trained and sleeping in a bed by then. If you don't want to do the math, this means that I have approximately 5 months to work all of this out.
So let's talk potty training first. Before I had my own kid I thought potty training was all about how well the parents did it. Boy was I wrong. Even though she is two, Aubrey doesn't really seem ready to go down this path. My only indication that she may be capable is that she can keep her diaper dry for 2 plus hours a day. That's about it. I ask her where she goes pee pee and poo poo and she will tell me, "On the potty" but she doesn't actually do it. She doesn't even tell me when she goes or when she has to go. Sadly she would sit in a poopy diaper for hours if I let her. So far she has peed on the potty once. A few times a day she will sit on the potty and I read her books. This has basically done nothing expect for changing our story time location to the bathroom instead of the couch. I have even tried the naked from the waist down or underwear thing when we are at home. I will follow her around like a hawk and then as soon as I turn my back she is peeing(or pooping-yuck) all over the floor. So yeah, it's not going too well. Any tips on this would be greatly appreciated.
Now how about that big girl bed? Aubs is awesome in her crib. She sleeps 11-12 hours a night, doesn't climb out and usually naps pretty well. The thing is that it is a really nice Pottery Barn crib and I would like to use it for the new baby. The new baby will sleep in our room for the first 3 to 4 months or so but I don't want to "steal" Aubs crib after the baby is here and give it to here brother or sister. I think that would be sort of cruel. What do you think I should do? Go for the big girl bed and risk messing her wonderful sleep habits up or just buy a cheaper crib for the new baby?
If you haven't figured it out yet, this is a "pretty pretty please help this first time mom out" kind of post.
I've been a pretty bad blogger lately. I just have been spending more time doing other things like getting my house in order, getting my yard in order and just hanging outside. The first trimester of my pregnancy kicked my butt. I wasn't that sick but I was exhausted. Like napping when the baby napped, going to bed at 9:30 and not waking up until the baby woke up kind of exhausted. Because of all my slumber, my household duties got pushed aside a little bit. Actually they were got almost completely pushed aside. I'm not completely satisfied with how it is now but it's better than before. We still have about half a dozen cluttered closets and a disorganized garage that we will get to sooner or later. We have 5 months to get it all together- I hope we can do it!
Here are some pictures from my phone of our life lately.

It's been awhile since I have done one of the photo challenges at The Paper Mama
I figured I'd give this week a shot
This is of Aubs enjoying one of her favorite things in life- ice pops

This sweet little thing turns 2 today. I can't believe that it has been 2 years since I pushed a 7 lb 10 oz human out of my body who is now a 28 lb toddler. These past couple of years have been crazy and wonderful. They have been harder and easier than I had ever dreamed and I love my little girl more and more with each passing day.
I will be a little MIA for the next few days because we are celebrating at Disney World. I decided that instead of having a birthday party we would use the money to spend 3 days at Disney World. Today we are kicking off our trip at Animal Kingdom and then heading to Magic Kingdom on Friday and we are still up in the air on what we will do on Saturday. So basically there are going to be a ton of Disney World pictures on this blog next week. I will also try to post some cute pictures on instagram during our trip, my user name is Malliety if you'd like to follow along.
