Camera Shy

Ever since Aubrey was born there have only been a handful of pictures taken of me. Of course there are a bunch from the hospital but as all you moms out there know, those aren't exactly beauty shots.

I stumbled upon Emily Anderson's blog a few months ago. She does a link up on Thursdays where moms are encouraged to embrace the camera. This made me really think. Although most days it's usually just me and the baby, there are a lot of times where I have the opportunity to have someone else take a photo of the two of us- or even just me.

I think that those moments frozen in time are so important. It's ironic that I am the person that Aubs spends the most time with but she has the least amount of pictures with. Thanks to the inspiration from Embracing the Camera, I have shoved the camera into my husbands hands a lot these past couple of weeks. Hopefully soon he will learn to just grab it on his own, but these things take time.

The past couple of weeks Joe and I have decided to go to dinner down by the beach. If we get there before six we get seated right away. The food isn't great, just typical beach fare but the fact that we can go and play on the beach right after we eat makes it all worth it.

Hack Job

So I did it again. I trimmed Aub's bangs too short. The first time I trimmed them I did the same thing. This time I swore that I would do better. I mean hey I had all that experience from that one other time.

She looks oh so thrilled about this new look

In about a week they will look great. Until then I will be pinning them back or try to keep them brushed to the side.
I guess it could be worse, at least they are somewhat even. It reminds me of a school picture my mom has of herself when she was about 7 or 8 and her bangs are cut short and extremely crooked. I promise that I'll let someone else cut Aub's hair at that point.

If anyone has any tips on cutting bangs on a toddler I would love to hear them. I'm am linking up with Hill at Capturing Motherhood and Casey at The Wiegand's. They are helping other mom's realize that no one is perfect even in the blog world.

First Born

I left a very important family member out of my first post. I can't believe it, even my husband mentioned her absence. It's our dog Ruby. Ruby is a 3 year old Boston Terrier that we bought the year that we got married. Ruby isn't like other dogs. Here are a few examples of her unusual behaviors:

* She doesn't eat carbs. You would think that having a dog would come in handy with a toddler constantly dropping food but Ruby won't eat any of it. She pretty much only eats meat or cheese.

* She doesn't bark. We didn't hear her bark at all until she was at least a year old. Now she will only bark once when someone knock on the door or rings the doorbell.

* She sits with us at dinner. We usually eat on bar stools at our counter and Ruby will sit in a bar stool right next to me hoping that she will get a bite.

* She sleeps with stuffed toys shoved into her mouth. She looks like a snake that can disconnect it's jaw when she does this. We though it was a puppy thing left over from nursing but three years later she still does it all the time.

I'm so sorry I left her out. Good thing she doesn't know how to read or use the computer because she would be majorly pissed. I'll leave you with a few photos of my gorgeous girl.

Blog Bandwagon

Here it is-  first blog entry.  I've wanted to start a blog for quite a while now and finally got the okay from my hubby to do so.  He was a little leery about me putting our life out there for all to see but I assured him that I wouldn't overexpose us.  I have been a little bit of a blog stalker for a couple of years now so I am super excited to take the reins on my own blog  I guess I should start out with a little about me and what I hope this blog to become.

I'm Mallory.  I am a 27 year old stay at home mom living on Florida's gulf coast.  I enjoy creating through photography, crafts, and writing.  I am also in the process of using my creative juices to start some serious gardening and to better decorate my home.  I am married to my best friend Joe.  We started dating in our senior year of high school after he asks me to prom.  I know, it sounds like a scene out of a bad teen movie but it has all worked out beautifully  for us.  Together we have a cute little daughter named Aubrey who is 16 months old and lights up our world.

I hope to use this blog as a creative outlet.  I want to inspire others like they have inspired me through their own blogs.  It will probably take me a little while to get into a groove of what my blog will be so please bear with me.  In the mean time I plan on posting daily to build up some content and join some link up parties for exposure.
Okay...that's all....for now.
